Rusted Iron Skull Sculpture — Hand-Finished Miniature

What could be the origin of this tiny, rusted, iron skull?

Small anatomical human skull sculpture. Sculpted at 1:5 scale, 1.3 inches tall. Each skull is cast from a mold of my original, anatomically correct, sculpture, then sanded and detailed. The resin cast skull is then covered with iron paint and rusted to decayed perfection.

The result looks like something pulled from the bottom of an ancient river or the ruins of something long forgotten.

Unsettling in the best possible way.
