Description
A bronze skull, cast small enough to sit in the hand. 1.3 inches tall, a fifth the size of the skull it was sculpted from.
Bronze has been cast into objects for over five thousand years. It has been the metal of relics, grave goods and ritual objects for centuries, and a skull wears it about as naturally as anything could.
The bronze goes all the way through. Real bronze powder is mixed into the whole casting. The patina comes out dark, and the weight tends to surprise people who pick one up expecting resin.
No furnace, no crucible, no molten pour. The bronze powder goes into liquid resin, poured into a mold made from my original sculpt, and each casting is detailed, finished and polished by hand.
Each piece is cast specifically for each order, so the one you receive will vary slightly from the images here. No two come out the same, and yours will be unique.
In a vanitas arrangement, or on an altar shelf beside the candles. Anywhere that could stand a little gravity. Put one on a desk and it does what bronze has always done, which is outlast the person looking at it. Collectors of the beautifully strange tend to find this one first, and it gifts well to the friend whose house leans witchy.
All three finishes appear in the photographs so they can be compared directly. This page sells the bronze one by itself. The brass and the metal sculptures are sold separately.
All sculptures are made to order and take 3 to 7 days to produce.
