Description
A small memento mori for the fridge door. Sculpted at 1:5 anatomical scale, this skull stands 1.3 inches tall and is cold-cast in aluminum finished to an antique silver tone.
The metal goes all the way through. Real aluminum powder is mixed into the entire casting – nothing here is plated or painted, and “antique silver” is the color of the finish, not the metal. Aluminum is a light metal, which suits a magnet. The strong magnets set into the flat back hold it easily to a refrigerator, a filing cabinet or any steel surface.
The casting runs at room temperature. The powder goes into liquid resin, poured into a mold made from my original hand-sculpted skull, and every piece is then finished by hand until the surface reads as old, tarnished silver.
Each one is cast and finished after you order it, so yours will not match the photographs exactly. Yours will be one of a kind.
On the fridge, a toolbox, a locker or the side of a filing cabinet, it is a quiet reminder that the time is worth using. It also makes a strange, memorable gift for the goth or dark academia friend who already has everything.
